Markets Update:

Asia-Pacific markets began the week with mixed performance as Chinese markets resumed trading following a week-long Golden Week holiday. Key data points and events to watch include inflation and trade data from China and India, along with Singapore’s central bank’s monetary policy decision. Notably, Japan and South Korea observed a market holiday on Monday.

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 index rebounded, ending a five-day losing streak with a 0.23% gain, recovering from falling below the 7,000 mark for the first time since March. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures indicated a stronger opening, though the morning session was canceled due to a typhoon warning, which was later downgraded.

Meanwhile, mainland Chinese markets saw a 0.49% decline in the CSI 300 index after the Golden Week. In the U.S., on the preceding Friday, all major indexes experienced gains following robust U.S. job data and increased Treasury yields. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.87%, the S&P 500 climbed 1.18%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.6%.

Investor attention is also focused on the unexpected attack by Palestinian militants on Israel over the weekend, introducing an element of uncertainty into global financial markets.
